Hi, I’m Amy. I’m a mum of 4 children ages 3-8. We home educate so life is pretty chaotic! I’ve been a Christian since I was 16 (over half my life now!) and in that time I’ve worked with all ages of children under 11. I love working with children and all the things they teach me! In a previous life, I trained as a teacher. This combination of knowledge of how children learn and passion for helping even the youngest children meet with God led to the creation of Little Oaks.
In my (limited!) spare time I love reading, sewing and baking.
The Little Oaks Vision
The vision for Little Oaks is to see our youngest children loved, valued and accepted as they are. In order to do this, we explore how children learn and how we can best serve them in our churches. I strongly believe that our children are the church and we treat them and teach them is of infinite value.
Rooted
Rooted is the 3-5s part of the curriculum. It contains craft suggestions, prayer ideas and play activities that link with each Bible story. In addition to this, there are ideas for conversation starters and things to pray over the children. These activities can be done during the free play time although you may choose to some as a whole group with age.
Acorns
Acorns is the part of the curriculum for under 3’s. It has different play activities that relate to the Bible story each week, as well as ideas of what to talk to the children about and what to pray over them. It is designed to be totally play-based and all the activities will take place throughout the free-play time, when the children are interested.
Letters From Paul
Letters From Paul is a Bible study with a twist. Aimed at 8-11 year-olds, it transforms the epistles into actual letters from Paul, posted to families. The heart is that it would give children the tools to navigate the Bible for themselves and that it would provide the stepping stone from storybook Bibles to youth or adult Bibles. It has been written so that families can read and unpack the letters together or alternatively it has also been compiled into a churches pack so that it could be done as part of a families ministry or weekly children’s group.
